Meet the Aerolase Era Elite®, our newest laser for precision skin resurfacing.
If you already know and love our Aerolase Neo Elite, think of Era as its resurfacing partner. While Neo works deeper within the skin to address concerns such as redness, pigmentation, acne, and collagen loss, Era focuses on the skin’s surface—refining texture, softening lines, improving sun damage, and revealing fresher, smoother skin underneath. And because every face—and every skin goal—is different, Era treatments can be customized from lighter resurfacing to a more intensive rejuvenation with the new Hybrid Fractional Lens.
What Is the Aerolase Era Elite?
Era Elite is a 2940nm Er:YAG ablative laser designed for highly controlled skin resurfacing.
The 2940nm wavelength is strongly absorbed by water within the skin, allowing us to precisely remove microscopic layers of damaged skin while controlling the depth of treatment. Era uses Aerolase’s unique 300-microsecond pulse technology, designed to deliver energy quickly and precisely while minimizing unnecessary heat in surrounding tissue.

What Can Era Treat?

What Makes Era Different From Other Resurfacing Lasers?
Traditional ablative laser resurfacing can produce beautiful results, but it has historically been associated with significant heat, discomfort, and extended recovery.
Era was designed differently. Its ultra-short 300-microsecond pulse duration allows the laser to precisely ablate tissue while limiting excess thermal damage to surrounding skin. The treatment depth can also be adjusted according to the individual patient, treatment area, and desired result. That means we aren't locked into one level of resurfacing.
We can customize your treatment based on your skin, your goals, and how much downtime you are comfortable with. And depending on the treatment selected, Era can often be performed without topical numbing.
Full-Field vs. Hybrid Fractional Resurfacing
One of the things we love most about Era is its versatility.
Era can perform traditional full-field resurfacing, where the entire treated surface is precisely resurfaced, and additionally we can use Aerolase’s Hybrid Fractional lens.
The Hybrid Fractional lens combines surface ablation with fractional microchannels that extend deeper into the skin. This allows us to address the epidermis while also stimulating remodeling within the upper dermis.
Hybrid Fractional treatments can be especially helpful when we want to address concerns such as acne scarring, deeper textural irregularities, fine lines, wrinkles, and more advanced photoaging.

What Is the Downtime?
Unlike our Neo Elite, Era does have downtime—and that's important to understand.
This is resurfacing. We are intentionally removing damaged surface skin so that healthier-looking skin can replace it.
Depending on the intensity of your treatment, expect several days of redness, dryness, bronzing, flaking, or peeling as the skin renews itself. Most of our Era resurfacing treatments involve approximately 3–7 days of visible recovery, although redness can persist longer with more intensive treatments.
We will customize both your treatment and your post-care plan so you know exactly what to expect. And please—don't pick the peeling skin!
Your job after Era is simple: protect, hydrate, and let your skin do what it knows how to do.
When Will I See Results?
You'll begin noticing fresher, smoother-looking skin as the initial healing and peeling process resolves. But that's only the beginning; collagen remodeling continues after treatment, so improvements in texture, fine lines, and overall skin quality can continue developing over the following weeks and months.
And Then There Is Reverse: Neo + Era
This is where things get really interesting.
At Luma MD, we can combine our two Aerolase technologies into Reverse by Aerolase®.
Think of it as rejuvenating the skin from the inside out.
First, the Neo Elite 1064nm laser works deeper within the skin, targeting concerns such as pigment, vascular redness, and deeper signs of aging while stimulating collagen.
Then, Era Elite 2940nm resurfaces the epidermis, addressing the visible damage we see on the surface—texture, fine lines, sun damage, and uneven tone.
Neo works below. Era works above.
