Over 10 million peels have been performed worldwide in just the past 15 years - we know the reason...
Right here at Luma MD, in Sarasota, Fl, we recognize the need for mid-depth painless peels that are safe for all skin types and tones and that is why VI Peels are on the top of our list.
THE VI PEEL
The VI Peel is a skin-resurfacing chemical peel that we like to use at Luma MD. It stimulates collagen and increases the cellular turnover that is necessary to reveal smoother and more radiant skin. The VI Peel received Real Self’s Most Worth it Award. It is also virtually painless. Its limited downtime will allow you to get right back to your daily activities, whether at Siesta Key Beach or on the pickleball court.
VI Peel has a peel for each different skin concern. There are 5 custom blends targeted for each patient’s needs, such as aging skin, active acne, acne scarring, melasma, sun damage, keratosis pilaris, and more.
FAQ
What is a blended peel?
Single-Acid peels treat a limited number of skin concerns. A straight TCA, (Trichloroacetic Acid) peel is amazing at combating the signs of aging. However, In order to achieve optimal results with TCA higher concentrations are required. Not only is that painful, but that treatment will be limited to those with light or fairer skin. Whereas, custom-blended peels address a patient’s primary concern and address any secondary skin conditions they may have as well without the discomfort.
How does it work?
The VI Peel contains a unique blend of 5 acids that work together:
Retinoic Acid
the powerhouse acid that penetrates the skin inhibiting the production of melanin and increases cell turnover.
Trichloroacetic Acid
targets signs of aging by boosting collagen and exfoliating the skin.
Salicylic Acid
prevents inflammation by killing the bacteria, suppresses sebum production, and cleanses the pores.
Phenol
the secret weapon, it numbs the skin, allowing for a painless application.
Lastly, Ascorbic Acid
a powerful antioxidant that reverses free radicals, evens out the skin tone and helps prevent future damage.
How Long Does a VI Peel Treatment Take?
The treatment usually takes 30-45 minutes but can be adjusted depending on your needs. This is a very safe treatment and there is no pain or discomfort.
What Can I Expect Post-treatment?
We include a 7-day Post-Peel kit to take care of your skin during the peeling process and we will assist you in downloading and understanding the VI Peel App. You can expect 2 - 4 days of mid-face peeling. 95% of patients saw a reduction in acne, 97% experienced a reduction in pigmentation, 90% observed a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles and 94% said their skin looked radiant and improved.
How Often Should I Get a VI Peel?
We recommend a series of three VI Peels for optimum results, allowing 4 weeks in between each treatment.
What Do I Need to Do to Prepare for a VI Peel Treatment?
• No sun exposure one week before treatment
• Stop using retinol one week before treatment
Combining treatments:
If you want to achieve a full anti-aging treatment to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, combining both the VI Peel and a neurotoxin (Botox, Dysport) would give you optimal results. This can be done in one treatment visit. The skin will be anesthetized before injections with the phenol contained in the peel itself, and VI Peels’ potent antimicrobial qualities are stronger than rubbing alcohol. The neurotoxin will suppress the muscle contraction that creates wrinkling while the VI Peel refines and fades the existing wrinkles.
Contraindications:
Pregnancy, nursing, allergy to salicylic acid
